St. Petersburg authorities canceled the construction of Orlovsky Tunnel
The Government of St. Petersburg has decided to abandon the construction of Orlovsky tunnel because of its high price, told reporters on Tuesday, the governor of the city, Georgy Poltavchenko.
The concession agreement for design, construction, financing and operation of the Orlovsky Tunnel, which would provide round the clock traffic between the two banks of the Neva, even during navigation, the Government of St. Petersburg and OOO "Neva Concession Company " sign in the middle of last year. Then the estimated cost of construction was announced in the amount of 50 billion rubles. The project was financed by equal shares - 33.3% of the investor, the city budget and the investment fund of the Russian Federation.
"When conducting survey work revealed that soils are very complex and difficult. This will inevitably lead to higher prices of the project and decided to give it up, " - told reporters Tuesday Poltavchenko.
Earlier, media wrote that the fate of several major projects developed by a team of the previous governor, Valentina Matvienko, was called into question when a new governor George Poltavchenko, who headed the city in September this year.
